After months of waiting, maybe years you finally get your child's diagnosis (or maybe you're still waiting).

You leave the appointment with the knowledge your child's autistic, but what now?

You ask the diagnosing team for advice BUT...

All they give you is a couple of leaflets and send you on your way.

You ask friends and family BUT...

They don't get it. Their parenting experience has been different. What worked for them just doesn't cut it for your child.

You start researching BUT...

There's so much information out there, how do you know what's the good stuff and what's not? What if you make the wrong choice?

You know you'll do whatever it takes to help your child. You want to give them the best chance in life, of course you do BUT...

That doesn't stop you feeling alone and confused. Worried for the future and wondering if life will ever get easier

I promise you're not the only one that feels like that

and it doesn't have to stay that way either.

By the end of DreamBox foundations:

  • You'll have a greater understanding of autism and how it affects your child’s daily life.

  • You'll feel confident in your ability to understand and support your child in all aspects of life

  • You'll have met and made friends with other parents who get it, you'll be part of a community that can support each other.

  • Both you and your child will be ready to build a life that you love!

How does it work?

Don't worry Dreambox Foundations isn't a course full of wishy washy information, medical and educational jargon.

Nor is it the kind of course where you get talked at for hours but still feel none the wiser.

DreamBox Foundations is designed for busy parents who are ready to take action now.

Each sessions is made up of practical easy to implement advice and time to plan and discuss what this might look like for your family, so you can get started straight away.

During the 6 x 2hr interactive sessions we'll cover:

  • Autistic communication including key strategies to unlock your child's communication and set them up to be a successful communicator

  • Sensory differences including how to support your child to navigate everyday situations without overwhelm

  • What socialising looks like for autistic children and how to support them to be their authentic autistic selves

  • Understanding and supporting behaviour, including how to reduce meltdowns and manage them in the moment

  • What learning and play look like for autistic children and how to create activities your children will love

  • How to teach self help skills and independence so your child can be

In addition to these 6 interactive sessions you'll also get:

  • A dedicated Facebook Group where we can continue the conversations started during our sessions, get to know each other better and make sure everyone is getting the support they need.

  • An Online Area where you'll find recordings of the information shared in sessions plus extra information and resources to support you and your child

  • An extra Q&A session one month after our final interactive session; a time to get together, share your wins and ensure you've got a plan to continue moving you forward.

  • Parent Wellbeing Session with Jo Gaunt, a parent to autistic children and author of 'Your Safe Space; creating a home where autistic children thrive'

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I join if my child hasn’t been formally diagnosed?

Absolutely you can! Just because you don’t have a diagnosis yet doesn’t mean you need or deserve this support any less.

Will you help diagnoses my child?

No. Diagnosis is  done through a multi disciplinary team of professionals.  They will talk with you,  observe and assess your child, usually over several sessions before giving a diagnosis.

How many sessions are there?

There are 6 main learning sessions plus a follow up question and answer session a month after the main course has finished.

All sessions will be recorded and available to view afterwards in our private online portal

You will also have access to a pre-recorded parent well being session from Jo Gaunt, a parent to autistic children and author of 'Your Safe Space; creating a home where autistic children thrive'

Can I bring my child?

No, children aren't permitted in the sessions. I want you to be able to give your full attention to our time together, to learn, to share and to process what it means to parent an autistic child.

Also, I'm a firm believer that we shouldn't talk about children in front of them, we can never be certain what they might take away from what they hear.

Can I bring another adult?

Absolutely, teamwork makes the dream work!

You are welcome to attend with one other adult. Both adults must be there for the same child and it must be the same adult that attends with you each week.

Both adults will be granted access to the facebook gropu and the online members area.

What happens if I miss a session?

I’d strongly encourage you to attend all session but I know that life happens and sometimes it just won’t be possible so all sessions will be recorded and available for you to view in our private online portal.

You will have lifetime access to the content from this course.

What happens inside the facebook group?

The Facebook Group works as an extra layer of support.

I'll be there to give that continued advice and support.

The only parents in the group will be those from your cohort meaning it will be the same safe environment as our live sessions. There will also be a silent admin in the group just in case of any technical difficulties.

They’ll be check in posts and reminder posts linked to what we’ve covered in our sessions.

It’s  also an opportunity for you to

- Continue  getting to know each other

- Share you successes and your frustrations

- Ask for support and advice between sessions

You’ll have access to the group from Monday 4th November 2024 until Sunday 19th January 2025.

Is there a discounted price for low income families?
